National Voices vacancies
Head of Communications, National Voices
Full time, permanent, 35 hours a week, central London
£45,000 to £50,000, subject to skills and experience.
National Voices is the leading coalition of health and care charities in England, influencing policy and practice, and serving 160 member organisations. Our job is to champion a strong patient and citizen voice in health, and the vital role of the voluntary sector.
We enjoy a growing reputation among decision makers in government, the NHS and the wider health and social care worlds. And with a team of just 9 people and an annual budget of about £0.6 million, we punch well above our weight.
We seek a Head of Communications to take our messages and profile to the next level. This is a new role, reflecting the centrality in our strategy of communicating with impact. You will be responsible for our communications strategy and will lead on media, campaigns, publications and dissemination. As a member of the senior management team, you will share overall responsibility for National Voices’ success, act as an ambassador for the organisation, and oversee membership services.
Naturally you will be a great communicator in writing and in person. You will have a record of achievement in a senior communications or similar role and be able to demonstrate drive, leadership, strategic thinking and excellent organisational ability. You will also have great people skills and relish working collaboratively in a small, friendly team.

The deadline for applications is Friday 2 October 2015. Interviews will take place on Friday 16 October 2015 at National Voices’ offices in London.
Internship/ Temp Role, National Voices
We are seeking a paid intern/temp to help us clean and update our contact database, so we can be confident we are communicating with the right people in our member organisations – around 140 health and social care charities, as well as 20 professional and associate members.
You will be updating the database using information already supplied by our members, as well as carrying out your own desk and phone research to help us gather the most relevant, up-to-date contact details for all members. The phone research you undertake will also feed into our annual membership survey.
You must be reliable, efficient and accurate, with a good telephone manner and IT skills. Previous experience of working with databases would be valuable, but not essential as all necessary training on our database system will be provided.
This work is key in supporting National Voices’ ongoing development, and would be a good opportunity to gain experience of working in the charity sector as part of our small, friendly staff team!
We will pay £10 an hour in the expectation that this should take no more than 40. You will be available to work 3 - 4 days a week (ideally Mon - Thurs) from 14 to 29 September at National Voices offices in central London. To apply for this role, please email your CV and cover letter to email@example.com by 5pm on Monday 7th September.
