Policy engagements
National Voices is actively working on a wide range of working parties, steering groups and other national processes, to bring the influence of patient, service user and carer voices to bear.
Below is a selection of current policy engagements.
Patient Experience Excellence
National Voices Director of Policy Don Redding is part of the reference group for this DH-commissioned project to produce an excellence framework for patient experience. Materials in development can be viewed here.
DH Strategic Partners Programme
National Voices is an official strategic partner to the Department of Health, one of a number of Third Sector organisations working on emerging policy across the department.
NHS Future Forum (3)
National Voices chief executive Jeremy Taylor is a member of the third phase of this independent panel, which will advise the Secretary of State on reviewing and renewing the NHS Constitution.
Jeremy led the information workstream for Future Forum 2 which reported in January 2012; and was a member of FF1 which held a listening exercise to help improve the government's health reforms in 2011.
Caldicott review of confidentiality
This review by Dame Fiona Caldicott looks at the balance between protecting patient information, and sharing it in order to improve care. It resulted from a Future Forum (2) recommendation, and Jeremy Taylor is on its panel.
Associate Parliamentary Health Group
Jeremy Taylor is a member of the Advisory Board for this group.
RCGP stakeholder group for social inclusion
Zoe Mathews from Friends, Families and Travellers, a National Voices trustee, represents us on this group.
DH Health and Social Care Transparency Panel
Chaired by Earl Howe, this is part of the cross-government drive towards data transparency.
Healthcare Quality Improvement Partnership
National Voices is a member of the consortium that runs this key programme of clinical audits for the NHS.
HealthWatch
Represented on the Local HealthWatch Programme Board and Advisory Group.
Care and Support Alliance
Member of this campaign group of over 50 organisations working for improved social care, currently campaigning on the issues raised by the Dilnot Commission on funding, and the Law Commission's report on the legal framework for social care. Their website can be found here.

Professional Records Standards Group
This multidisciplinary group has made recommendations for a standing committee to oversee the standards to which patient records in the NHS should conform, and how these are accredited. Ros Meek represented National Voices and Jeremy Taylor wrote the foreword to the report.
