Communications Network: February 2019
A meeting of National Voices' Communications Network
The next Communications Network meeting will be hosted at the National Voices' offices on 13 February 2019.
The topic of this meeting will be 'Cutting through the noise'. In a world where people are constantly overloaded with information, news and requests, how do you get your message through and make an impact?
We will be be joined by two guest speakers at the next comms network.
Getting media coverage - Catherine Deakin, Director of Fundraising and Communications at Changing Faces
Catherine will be talking about Changing Faces' experience of cutting through the noise to gain media coverage around London Fashion Week, and their partnership with the Telegraph's Christmas appeal.
Integrated campaigns - Sara Andersson, Corporate Communications Marketing Manager at Samaritans
Sara will be sharing lessons and reflections from the charity's Small Talk Saves Lives integrated campaign. The campaign aims to increase the number of life-saving interventions on the railways and beyond by giving bystanders the confidence to act if they see someone in a state of distress. It has been one of their most successful campaigns to date, reaching millions of people.
The campaign uses real-life examples of how people have used small talk to intervene and save someone’s life. It has been delivered through a mix of owned and paid-for digital advertising, backed up by an extensive media plan and supported by rail industry channels and Samaritans volunteers. In a survey, 4 in 10 of those who travel by train said they remembered the campaign launch and almost half of those who saw the campaign said it had increased their knowledge and intent to act if they see someone who may be at risk of suicide.
