Communications Network meeting

A meeting of National Voices' Communications Network.

The next Communications Network meeting will be hosted at the National Voices offices on 1 March 2018. Our Head of Communications, Andrew McCracken will chair the meeting.

Topics on the table for the meeting will be:

  • Applying Behavioural Science – Emily McBride, a behavioural scientist from the  Department of Health and Social Care will be joining us to talk about the world of behavioural science, how it is being used by government, how it could be applied to comms campaigns, and some tools and techniques to help you apply the theory.
  • Controversial communications –Jenna Mahoney, Head of PR at the MS Society, will talk us through their campaign to legalise cannabis for medicinal use: managing risks, building trust and keeping the debate constructive.
  • Oxfam – What would you do? – The scandal surrounding Oxfam highlights a whole host of issues for other VCSE organisations. How would you have handled such a crisis? Do we need to take action to avoid similar situation at our own organisation? What does it mean for trust in charities? What is the role of the comms professional in influencing an organisation to ‘do the right thi8ing’.
  • Open discussion – Time for discussion about any issues network members would like to explore.

The Communications Network is a National Voices member only event for staff working in comms roles, but is open to all National Voices members. If you wish to join the Communications Network, please email Laura Bell.
