NHS Long Term Plan adopts new comprehensive model for person-centred care.

National Voices responds to the NHS Long Term Plan.

  • Person-centred care
  • Health inequalities

In response to the publication of the NHS Long Term Plan, National Voices’ Chief Executive, Jeremy Taylor OBE said:

National Voices welcomes the NHS Long Term Plan and its commitment to a new comprehensive model for person-centred care. The tilt towards primary and community care, the ambition to tackle health inequalities, and targets to spread personalised approaches like social prescribing reflect many years of advocacy by National Voices and our partners, and should make a real difference for people with the greatest needs.

But the plan is less clear on those aspects that have proven to be weaknesses in earlier plans. Will it actually be delivered? How will patients, communities and the voluntary sector be meaningfully involved in the changes? Where does accountability lie if the plan is not delivered? National Voices will continue to offer our support and challenge on these issues.
