Welcome focus on quality of adult social care

Wed, 12 July 2017

National Voices is one of 24 organisations supporting a new commitment to high-quality, person-centred adult social care. Quality Matters brings together national bodies, local government, care providers and the voluntary sector to agree a way forward to improve the quality of adult social care.

Commenting on publication of Quality Matters, Jeremy Taylor, chief executive of National Voices, the coalition of health and care charities, said:

Much of the social care debate is about access and funding.  These are vital, but quality matters too -  literally.  Hence the importance of Quality Matters as an initiative focussed on the quality of care and support, and the wide range of organisations committing to drive improvement.

We welcome Quality Matters as a public commitment to creating coordinated services built around the individual, not the system.

We specifically welcome the commitment from all of the partner organisations to listen to, involve, and act on the views of people who use services, and the recognition of the vital role that voluntary sector organisations play in supporting people and improving services.

Quality Matters will be formally launched at an event later today (12 July 2017). For further information, about National Voices’ involvement, please contact Andrew Mccracken, Head of Communications at National Voices, on 020 3176 0737 or at andrew.mccracken@nationalvoices.org.uk.
