National Voices responds to the launch of the care and support consultation
Fri, 6 June 2014
National Voices, the health and care charity coalition, has responded to the consultation on the Care Act regulations and guidance, which was launched today.
Laura Robinson, Policy and Communications Advisor at National Voices said:
“The Care Act sets out a strong framework for reform and it could drive up the quality of care and promote a focus on integration and wellbeing. But people need to be entitled to access care under the new system, and we believe that the draft eligibility criteria currently set the bar too high. This is not consistent with the Government’s wider commitment to preventative and proactive support that maintains people’s independence. We call for the Government to invest in care and to ensure that older and disabled people, and their carers, get the support they need to stay and live well.”
