Healthy commissioning: How the Social Value Act is being used by Clinical Commissioning Groups
National Voices and Social Enterprise UK have conducted a survey of NHS Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) to assess their use of the Social Value Act.
The Public Services (Social Value) Act 2012 requires commissioners to consider broader social, economic and environmental benefits to their area when making commissioning decisions. It was a response to the risk of competitive tendering focusing solely on cost at the expense of other forms of value.
Peer Support: What Is It and Does It Work?
Published by National Voices and Nesta, this report is evidence that peer support can help people feel more knowledgeable, confident and happy, and less isolated and alone. The report also shows that there is a limited understanding of the different forms of peer support, how best to deliver support and the forms of training and infrastructure to get the most impact from it; so, further evidence is needed to fully understand the impact it has on the health service and individuals with long-term health conditions.
