National Voices’ Policy & Communications Advisor, Laura Robinson, says: “Although the UK has a comparatively strong track record for treating people with rare diseases, patient experiences show that there is still much room for improvement. The consultation document identifies many of the key issues but there is still the need for a clear vision and practical steps to ensure that better service quality and patient outcomes can be delivered in practice. National Voices is calling for better equality of access, integration and coordination and greater patient voice and empowerment.”
