National Voices is a movement to raise the voices of people using health and care services, and those of their organisations, and it is this collaborative approach that has allowed us to pool together over 66,000 responses to National Voices members’ surveys that has given us this powerful insight into people’s experiences in the first wave of COVID-19.

Voices for Improvement is a National Voices project which seeks to strengthen collaboration between those with lived experience and decision-makers, in the service of improving health and social care.

On 26 April 2017, the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and National Voices held a joint event, attended by members of National Voices and people with lived experience of long-term conditions. The event explored the current role of pharmacy in delivering person-centred care to people with long-term conditions, and how this might evolve.

On the whole, National Voices welcomes the proposed amendments to the content of the NHS Constitution.

Having campaigned consistently for a statutory duty of candour that covers the range of harms that are significant for patients, National Voices strongly welcomes the draft regulations to put this into practice.

The purpose of regulation is to ensure high quality care, treatment and support for people who use services. These draft regulations muddle the legal definition of quality in a way that is not helpful.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) reviewed their approach to how lay people can take part in developing their guidance and standards. National Voices submitted to the consultation, commenting on NICE’s proposals.

The long term NHS plan and beyond: views from leaders in charities and voice organisations

The Board of NHS England has launched a public consultation, which will result in statutory guidance to Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs), aimed at restricting the prescribing of treatments and remedies that are judged to be of ‘low clinical value’.
