Primary care services are the front door to the NHS – they are the first port of call when we feel unwell and the main coordinator of care when we are living with health conditions. The primary care team have an important role in making people feel welcomed, listened to and taken seriously.

Following Thérèse Coffey’s announcements regarding ‘Our Plan for Patients’, Charlotte Augst has written to the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, highlighting the importance of championing choice and personalisation throughout health and social care, recognising the need to move towards more joined up care, and to ensure that everyone receives communications from primary care services in a way that suits them.

This framework is aimed at local health and social care and community leaders and sets out six ‘ambitions’ – principles for how care for those nearing death should be delivered at local level.

In a letter signed by 110 member organisations, sent in August, National Voices congratulates the new Secretary of State for Health and Social Care on his appointment and outlines the burning topics members are keen to discuss and highlight.
