Responding to the announcement today by Jo Churchill, Minister for Primary Care, on the Government’s plans around GP data, four leading patient groups – Healthwatch England, National Voices, the Patients Association and the Richmond Group of Charities – have released the following statement:

Jacob Lant, Chief Executive of National Voices, responds to the announcement of a £2 million fund to support the public in shaping future use of health data by the NHS.

The recent spending review sees a higher funding uplift for the NHS than many other services, with spending linked to enabling the 10 Year Health Plan. Yet we recognise that rebuilding trust in the NHS also depends on a sincere commitment to the wider determinants of health and meaningful social care investment.

In mid-April National Voices submitted a response to the Health and Social Care Select Committee’s Expert Panel on the Evaluation of the Government’s Commitments in the Area of Pharmacy in England.

National Voices has welcomed the opportunity to give our views on the NHS England and Improvement (NHSEI) consultation on proposals for Integrated Care Systems.

In March, National Voices was invited to give evidence at a specially convened Health and Social Care Committee, following the news of the abolition of NHS England, and 50% running cost cuts to integrated care boards (ICBs).
